Simon Furmston
I am originally from the UK but have lived in Beijing since 2018. I am a full-time Design teacher, but I love to go out and take photographs whenever I get the chance.
As a passionate photographer, my journey began with a deep appreciation for the fleeting moments that life offers. Inspired by the ever-changing nature of our surroundings and the memories we cherish, I aim to capture the beauty in everyday scenes—from a child's laughter to the interplay of light and shadow on a bustling street. My style is rooted in the belief that photography is about personal expression. I focus on what resonates with me, creating compositions that bring joy and meaning, regardless of social media validation. Each photograph is an exploration of light, composition, and emotion, allowing me to tell stories that reflect my unique perspective.I embrace the challenge of balancing my full-time teaching job with my love for photography, often finding inspiration in the world around me. Whether I'm exploring the vibrant streets of Beijing or capturing serene landscapes during my travels across China, I strive to find beauty in every corner. My work has been showcased in a gallery during Beijing Design Week, and I look forward to more opportunities to share my vision.Ultimately, photography has transformed how I see the world—encouraging me to notice details that might otherwise go unnoticed. I believe in continuous learning and growth, drawing inspiration from both classic and contemporary photographers. My advice to aspiring photographers is simple: find joy in your process, explore different subjects, and let your passion guide you.
